Clyde Valley Sheds | Frequently Asked Questions
For your convenience we have listed below the most frequently asked questions and answers we receive regarding our garden sheds and timber buildings. Should you happen to have a question which is not listed below simply contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Q: Do I need planning permission to erect my new shed or timber building?
A: Simply put no. A shed is considered a “Temporary Construction” that can be removed easily if need be and will not require planning permission. However, if you require a shed with a height of 2.5 metres or above, with a total floor area greater than 30 square metres, or you are looking to erect your shed where it will obstruct a neighbour's view you may need planning permission. If this is the case we recommend that you contact your local council first.
Q: I would like a bespoke / custom made shed or timber building that does not come as standard, can you help?
A: Yes! All our sheds and timber buildings are made to order and not mass produced as in many cases. Therefore, if you require a bespoke shed or timber building simply contact us to discuss your individual requirements.
Q: How much will a shed or timber building supply and installation package cost me?
A: This all depends on what type of shed or timber building you need and your individual requirements. However, our shed and timber building supply and installation prices are extremely competitive and we provide FREE, no obligation quotations.
Q: Are your sheds and timber buildings screwed together or bolted?
A: We screw the panels and floor together so our sheds can be dismantled and moved if necessary. However, on larger sheds the roof would also need to be dismantled.
Q: Do your sheds and timber buildings come with a floor?
A. Yes. All our sheds and timber buildings come complete with a floor unless otherwise stated. Our floors are made from 18mm tongue and grooved floor boards on 45mm x 45mm runners.
Q: Do your sheds come with a window?
A: Yes. All our sheds come with one window. We use glass as standard but we can also use Perspex. We can also install additional windows to suit your individual requirements for a small additional cost.
Q: What size are your doors?
A: Our standard door opening is 5 feet 9 inches high by 2 feet 6 inches wide (1,750mm x 700mm). However, this can be altered to suit your individual needs and requirements.
Q: Do I need to purchase a padlock for my shed or timber building?
A: No. All our sheds and timber buildings come with a lock and two keys unless otherwise stated.
Q: What materials are the roofs made from?
A: Our roofs are made from 16mm sarking. They are then covered with heavy duty green mineral felt.
Q: Do you supply a base?
A: No. We prefer to put your shed on a level concrete or slabbed base. However, we can supply and fit a level timber base for an additional cost.
Q: Your sheds and timber buildings are pressure treated, will I still need to treat it?
A: Yes. The treatment stops the wood from rotting but further treatments make the shed water repellent. Additional treatments will therefore not only prolong the life of your shed, or timber building, but will also improve its appearance over the years.
Q: How long will it take to get delivery of my shed?
A: We aim to deliver and erect all timber buildings and sheds within 10 working days of orders being placed. However, this can be longer during busy periods. When you place your order we will give you a delivery date along with an AM or PM delivery slot.
Q: Can I pay by cheque?
A. Yes. You can pay by cheque but it must clear before delivery. However, we do prefer bank transfer or cash on delivery.
